First launch

Opening Postwyn the first time

Postwyn isn’t code-signed yet, so your operating system shows a one-time caution the first time you open it. Here’s how to get past it safely.

macOS — “unidentified developer”
If macOS says the app “can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”:
  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Postwyn into Applications.
  2. In Applications, right-click (or Control-click) Postwyn and choose Open.
  3. In the dialog, click Open once more. macOS remembers your choice — future launches are normal.
Windows — “Windows protected your PC”
If a blue SmartScreen window appears when you run the installer:
  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway to continue the install.
This appears only until the app builds download reputation.
Which Mac build do I need?
  1. Click the Apple menu → About This Mac.
  2. If it lists an Apple M1/M2/M3/M4 chip, choose the Apple Silicon build. If it says Intel, choose the Intel build.
